FAQ
How are you different from a regular gym trainer?
I have been personalizing training for people who are building strength and flexibility and those who have various special conditions and injuries for over 35 years. I create a plan based on your physical health (energy, strengths, stamina, flexibility, injuries, limitations, and goals). Each time we meet, I will check in with you to know what is happening with your body. I will start from where you are and progress through your tailor-made program session, adapting it as you give me feedback. Bodies are not the same; there are asymmetries, limb length differences, varying heights, body types, and male/female differences that need to be considered.
How do you know if I am working hard enough or too hard?
Good communication is essential for your success! We want to work the Muscle, not just the movement. To efficiently communicate how much you feel in specific muscles, I use a rating scale of 1-10 (4=low, 6=moderate, and 8=Good effort!). We use check-ins and number Feedback Systems.
Each person has their way of learning. Some prefer a slow, methodical process of learning each exercise correctly and getting it right before moving on. Then they feel ready to add on as you become stronger.
On the other hand, some clients prefer a faster process of doing the exercises, learning as you go, and refining as you progress.
I focus on building a foundation of core strength, proper alignment, and form to minimize the risk of injury and maximize results.
What types of home fitness equipment do you recommend?
I focus on safe, customized exercises, using a variety of tools such as free weights, resistance bands, Swiss balls, Pilates sponge balls, yoga blocks, stretching straps, massage balls, and foam rollers. I incorporate various techniques from Strength/Resistance Training, Hatha, Restorative and Flow yoga, Pilates, Barre, Self-Myofacial Release, Corrective and Restorative exercises, and stretching.
What is most effective? Studio or Remote Training?
Training in the studio in Goldens Bridge, I can have a hands-on approach. On the other hand, based on my years of experience in Training, I can provide detailed feedback via Zoom or FaceTime. Some love the convenience of Zoom sessions; it saves time, avoid traffic jams, and can reduce stress. A Hybrid combination of remote sessions when your time is limited, you are traveling,
